November 18, (THEWILL) – Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday inaugurated the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 20 local government councils, urging them to prioritise grassroots development and deliver the dividends of democracy to their constituents.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, witnessed the governor emphasising the importance of inclusive governance and strategic policy implementation to improve the living standards across the state.
The governor charged the new chairmen to align with his administration’s *ISEYA* agenda—focusing on Infrastructure, Social Development, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture.
He encouraged them to implement innovative programmes that would positively impact the lives of residents in their respective councils.
“The results of the recent elections are a reflection of the people’s confidence in this administration over the last five years. You are now leaders for all, not just your party members. Be fair, just, and committed to delivering development to every corner of the state,” he stated.
The governor advised the council chairmen to focus on innovative ways of generating revenue to foster the growth and development of their local government areas.
He emphasised the need for diligence and responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
“God has chosen you for this responsibility, not because you are better than others, but because it pleases Him. Use this opportunity to serve diligently and make a meaningful impact,” Abiodun said.
Abiodun also called on the council chairmen to make security a top priority in their areas.
He urged them to collaborate with security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives and property.
