December 07, (THEWILL) – In his bid to ensure the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Food Security Agenda, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, MD/CEO, Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA), has indicated interest to partner Achievers Farm, located at Igbogene in Yenagoa LGA of Bayelsa state.
The Achievers Farm, which was a beehive of activities some years back became non-functional after the death of its founder and owner, Late Chief Lionel Jonathan-Omo.
Life on the farm started rejuvenating when a new management team, Bereton Nig. Ltd. and Oando, took over its affairs.
Prince Amgbare, who was on the spot assessment of facilities at the farm, led by Lawrence Diette-Spiff, the General Manager, on Friday, expressed satisfaction with the array of infrastructure available for massive food production.
Impressed with the facilities on ground, the NDBDA Chief Executive Officer noted that it’s the kind of partnership the Basin Authority had clamoured for.
He, however, expressed concerns over the wasting assets at the farm and indicated the Basin Authority’s willingness to partner with the farm for massive food production.
“This is a place with lots of opportunities, this is the kind of partnership we are looking for.
“This is an asset that was wasting”, noted Prince Àmgbare who however thanked HRM King Papapriye Diette-Spiff for taking over the management of the farm.
“Thanks to God, HRM Diette-Spiff stepped in and we are seeing revival”, he added, stressing “What we need now is just to support, to see how we achieve the main purpose of this place.
“NDBDA will definitely come in because the target is to energise this place and get the place run fully and that is where we come in”, he added in answer to a question.
Earlier, the General manager of the farm, Lawrence Spiff, who was excited at the visit, said the management of the renewed farm was prepared to partner with the Basin Authority for massive food production.
Lawrence explained that some of the facilities available at the farm included AquaCulture, a Cropping house, a demonstration house for piggery, Sheep and Goats, a Mushroom cropping house, Pepper nursing beds, Fish ponds, lecture halls, hostels, staff quarters for those interested in acquiring various farming technics.
He disclosed that the farm settlement could also be a tourist centre for lovers of tourism as a mini animal zoo is being proposed too.
The general manager also called on persons interested in acquiring more knowledge on farming techniques to come for training opportunities.
Since he assumed leadership of the NDBDA, Prince Amgbare has embarked on a campaign of partnership with reputable organisations that would ensure accountability and massive food production which has been the mandate of the Authority.
Meanwhile, the MD/CEO of NDBDA, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, was among the dignitaries who attended the funeral service of late HRH Micah Simon Ebebi, the Alei of Aleibiri in Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa state on Friday.
The Paramount ruler of Aleibiri who died at the age of 94 was the father of one time Deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi.
Like other dignitaries who paid their last respect and tributes, Prince Amgbare congratulated the late Alei for the emergence of a Deputy governor amongst his children before his death and also noted that his reign witnessed wisdom, love and progress amongst the people of the community and beyond.
Prince Amgbare who was accompanied on the visit by his Chief of Staff, Chief Dogiye Sylva, the Chief Security Officer- Victor Berezi CSP (rtd), and other aides, also witnessed an open-air Church service conducted by the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aleibiri in honour of the late Paramount ruler.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, former governor, Seriake Dickson, Heineken Lokpobiri, Samuel Ogbuku of the NDDC, amongst others.
