BEVERLY HILLS, June 10, (THEWILL) – The African Development Bank’s Vice-President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development, Dr. Jennifer Blanke, Wednesday resigned from her post, the bank said in a statement.
Blanke, who joined the bank in 2017, said she is leaving purely for family reasons.
There were speculations that linked her resignation to the controversy surrounding the probe of bank’s president Akinwumi Adesina following a whistleblower complaint. The bank’s ethics committee cleared him after an investigation but the board of governors ordered an independent review of the report after the United States insisted on one. The board of governors though said it fully supports the report of the ethics committee.
Blanke said: “I am leaving purely for family reasons to rejoin my family in Switzerland, after a very fulfilling time at the bank. I will miss the bank and the excellent team we have built. I will continue to strongly support the bank from wherever I am.
