BEVERLY HILLS, October 20, (THEWILL) – The shocking shooting of young protesters, who are seeking an end to police brutality and demanding better governance, by soldiers on Tuesday night following the curfew imposed on the state by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has left 30 persons hospitalized, Mr. Sanwo-Olu said in a tweet after he visited them at the hospital.
The horrific incident sparked a global uproar and put the military on the defensive.
There were initial reports that suggested that several persons were killed and wounded. Mr Sanwo-Olu did not mention any deaths in his tweet.
However, the Governor, who described the “unfortunate” night as “The toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make dark notes in our history,” said: “There are currently 10 patients at the General Hospital, 11 at the Reddington and 4 Vedic; with mild to moderate levels of injuries while 2 are receiving intensive medical care. 3 patients have been discharged and we will continue to monitor and ensure all patients get the best of care.”
