November 07, (THEWILL) – The national grid system operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) again collapsed on Thursday, marking the tenth grid disturbance in 2024.

THEWILL reports that the grid collapse comes barely 48 hours after the national grid suffered partial system failure on Tuesday.

According to data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), power generation fell to zero megawatts at 11:29 a.m., impacting all 22 operational generation companies nationwide.

While the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to issue any statement on the development, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) confirmed the latest collapse.

“Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today, 07 November 2024, at 11:29 Hrs, affecting supply within our network. Restoration of supply is ongoing. Kindly bear with us”, IKEDC said in a message to its customers.
