January 25, (THEWILL) – At least 15 people have been reported killed on Saturday in Enugu when a petrol tanker exploded along the Ugwu Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Franklin Onyekwere, confirmed the incident.
Witnesses said the explosion occurred at about 11:30am after the fuel-laden tanker fell while navigating down the hilly busy expressway.
They added that over 15 people including two children were roasted in the inferno.
Six vehicles were also razed in the explosion.
The victims according to witnesses were occupants of the vehicles caught in the inferno.
