August 26, (THEWILL) — A Boeing 777 Air China flight, carrying 311 passengers and crew from London, has been forced to make an emergency landing in Siberia after suffering “engine failure” mid-air on Tuesday morning.

The plane had taken off from London Heathrow at 10.43pm last night to Beijing, China, before running into trouble over Russian airspace. It was, however, diverted to Nizhnevartovsk in Russia’s Khanty-Mansi region, touching down at 8.17am local time.

An eyewitness told Russian outlet. Baza, that “airport services were on high alert for the unexpected guest as Airport staff scrambled to handle the sudden arrival.

The Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office has since confirmed the emergency landing.
