July 8 (THEWILL) — West and Central Africa’s largest airline, Air Peace, has strengthened its fleet with the arrival of its first brand-new Embraer E175 aircraft, a move expected to enhance operational efficiency, expand regional connectivity, and improve passenger experience across its domestic, regional, and international network.
The state-of-the-art aircraft, bearing Nigerian registration mark 5N-CGH, touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, at 8:32 p.m. on Tuesday, following a successful ferry flight from Brazil, where it was officially handed over to an Air Peace delegation by aircraft manufacturer Embraer after the completion of production.
THEWILL reports that the Embraer E175 is the first factory-new aircraft of its type to join the airline’s fleet, underscoring Air Peace’s continued investment in a modern, fuel-efficient fleet to support its expanding operations across Nigeria, West Africa, Central Africa and other international destinations.
Designed for short-to-medium-haul operations, the 88-seat aircraft features an all 2-2 seating configuration, eliminating middle seats and ensuring every passenger enjoys either a window or aisle seat.
It is also equipped with ergonomically designed leather seats, generous legroom, spacious overhead baggage compartments, larger windows, and an enhanced cabin environment aimed at delivering a quieter, brighter, and more comfortable travel experience.
Beyond passenger comfort, the Embraer E175 is built with advanced aerodynamics and fuel-efficient engines that deliver lower fuel consumption, reduced carbon emissions, and quieter operations.
The aircraft is expected to improve Air Peace’s operational flexibility while supporting the airline’s sustainability goals and maintaining its safety and reliability standards.
Speaking on the development, Air Peace spokesperson, Mr Efe Osifo-Whiskey, described the arrival of the aircraft as another major milestone in the airline’s long-term vision of building one of Africa’s most modern and versatile fleets.
According to him, the acquisition represents more than just an expansion of the airline’s fleet.
“The arrival of our brand-new Embraer E175 represents far more than the addition of another aircraft to our fleet.
“It reflects Air Peace’s unwavering commitment to continuous investment in modern aviation assets that improve operational efficiency, strengthen route connectivity, and elevate the overall travel experience for our passengers,” he said.
Osifo-Whiskey noted that the aircraft is ideally suited for the airline’s domestic and regional operations, providing the flexibility to efficiently serve existing routes while opening new markets with optimal capacity.
“For our passengers, this means greater schedule reliability, increased flight frequencies, enhanced onboard comfort, and the premium travel experience they have come to expect from Air Peace,” he added.
He further stated that as the airline continues to expand its network across Nigeria, West Africa, Central Africa, and other international destinations, the new aircraft would position it to meet growing passenger demand while contributing to economic development, tourism, regional integration, and intra-African connectivity.
