August 11, (THEWILL) — The Airline Operators of Nigeria has imposed a lifetime ban on Comfort Emmanson, barring her from flying on any of its member airlines, both within and outside the country.
AON spokesperson, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, announced the sanction in a statement on Monday, following Ibom Air’s earlier decision to restrict Emmanson’s travel over alleged violent and disruptive behaviour on board its flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025.
Ibom Air had alleged that Emmanson assaulted a crew member after refusing to comply with safety instructions on mobile phone usage, and even attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon — actions the airline said endangered passengers, crew, and the aircraft.
Okonkwo described the incident as “one of the most severe cases of unruly passenger behaviour witnessed this year,” commending Ibom Air for its swift response.
He added that similar sanctions will apply to any passenger who engages in such conduct, citing recent incidents involving Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) and Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
The association also called on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to tighten security at all airports to curb rising cases of violent passenger behaviour.
Emmanson is currently remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a court order issued on Monday.
