
December 12, (THEWILL) – Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced the appointment of Chinedu Akabueze as his new Chief of Staff.
Akabueze, who is retiring as the Clerk of the Senate after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60, will assume the position following his tenure as Senate Clerk, which began on March 4, 2022.
He succeeds Sylvester Okonkwo, the former Chief of Staff, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly established South East Development Commission.
In a related development, the National Assembly Service Commission has approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate.
His appointment takes effect from December 11, 2024.
The leadership changes come as part of ongoing efforts to ensure smooth operations and effective administration within the National Assembly.
