April 22, (THEWILL) — Stakeholders in Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District have formally endorsed Governor Umo Eno for a second term, with local government chairmen in the district pledging to purchase his nomination form ahead of the next election cycle.
The endorsement was conveyed through a communiqué presented to the governor at the State Government Lodge on Tuesday by the district’s political leader, Senator Effiong Bob, who said the decision followed a meeting of leaders and key stakeholders, where Eno was unanimously backed to continue in office.
Bob said the endorsement was based on an assessment of the governor’s performance across sectors, noting that while previous governors completed two terms, the decision to support Eno again was driven by what he described as measurable progress under his administration.
The district also passed separate resolutions endorsing President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for re-election.
“Having reviewed his performance across the thematic areas of the ARISE Agenda, we resolved to support him for a second term to consolidate ongoing development”, Bob said while presenting the communique.
In a related development, chairmen of local government areas within the senatorial district signalled political backing for the governor by offering to fund his nomination form collectively.
Several political figures, including Ambassador Assam Assam, Ambassador Ita Enang, Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, KufreAbasi Edidem, and ALGON Chairman Uwemedimo Udo, expressed support for the governor’s administration, citing confidence in his leadership.
Responding, Governor Eno described the endorsement as a vote of confidence and acknowledged similar backing earlier received from the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing the ARISE Agenda and sustaining development projects across the state.
“There is no local government without ongoing government projects,” the governor said, adding that his administration would continue to prioritise inclusive governance and improved living standards.
Senior government officials, including members of the State Executive Council and aides to the governor, attended the event.
