April 08, (THEWILL) — The Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, on Tuesday, donated vehicles to the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) Itu Command, alongside political stakeholders in his ward, in a move to strengthen local security and support governance structures.

The presentation was held at the Itu Local Government Council Headquarters in Mbak Atai Itam, where beneficiaries included the NFSS Itu Command, the Ward Chairman of East Itam 3, Ward 5, Mr Effiong Eyibio, and the Chairman’s Chief of Staff, Hon. George Akpan.

Speaking at the event, Nkutt said the donation was part of efforts to enhance rapid response capacity among security agencies and improve coordination within the area, noting that mobility remains critical to effective security operations and community development.

He added that the gesture also reflects the administration’s approach to supporting constituents and strengthening local structures.

Nkutt, who was joined by the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. Edidiong Inyang, said the initiative aligns with broader efforts to improve welfare, transportation, and security within the council area.

Inyang, in his remarks, described the donation as timely, noting that local government administrations have a role in supporting institutions and individuals contributing to governance and service delivery.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the NFSS, the South-South Zonal Commander, Commander Ime Peters, commended the council chairman, stating that the support would enhance the command’s operational capacity.

Other beneficiaries, including Chief of Staff Hon. George Akpan and Ward Chairman Effiong Eyibio, expressed appreciation for the gesture.

Earlier, the council chairman also presented Easter gifts to the Paramount Ruler of Itu, His Royal Majesty Edet Akpan Inyang, alongside other traditional leaders and political office holders.

The event climaxed with the formal handover of vehicle keys to the beneficiaries.
