August 29, (THEWILL) – The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, is dead.
Ayilara died early on Thursday, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
A family source said he underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday.
Ayilara, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, was deployed to Akwa Ibom Police Command in February 2024.
He enlisted into the police force as a cadet assistant superintendent of police on May 18, 1992, and has served in various capacities.
Until his death, he held an LL.B and LL.M degrees from the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos respectively.
