January 27, (THEWILL) – The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Azare, has charged newly recruited officers posted to the command to embrace discipline and professionalism in carrying out their duties as police constables.
Azare issued the directive while officially welcoming 384 newly recruited constables at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia over the weekend.
Addressing the recruits during the ceremony, the Police Commissioner congratulated them on their enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force, describing their new roles as a call to selfless service.
He urged them to uphold justice and commit to the protection of lives and property in the state.
Azare stressed the importance of discipline, professionalism, and strict adherence to the law as the foundation of their careers.
He warned that the Command would not condone misconduct or corruption, declaring that the era of impunity in the Force is over.
“As you begin your career in policing, you must recognize that discipline and respect for the rule of law are non-negotiable. Any act of corruption or misconduct will be met with appropriate consequences,” Azare said.
The CP further reminded the recruits of their duty to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens while discharging their responsibilities.
He also reiterated the Inspector-General of Police’s strict social media policy, warning that any misuse of social media to tarnish the image of the Force would attract severe sanctions.
Azare cautioned recruits with ulterior motives to reconsider their stance, stating that the Akwa Ibom Command under his leadership operates on zero tolerance for unethical practices.
He urged them to embrace integrity, transparency, and accountability as core values in their new roles.
Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, while strengthening public trust through professional and community-focused policing.
