March 08, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the 2023 governorship and state assembly elections, Traders in Etaha Itam Market in Itu Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, have held a solidarity rally for the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and State Assembly candidates of the party.

Addressing a cross section of traders at the Ultra Modern Market office, shortly after the solidarity march within the market and its environs on Tuesday, the Chairman, Board of Trustee of the Market Association, Mr Godwin Ebong, said the rally was their own way of conveying the traders’ appreciation to the PDP Government in Akwa Ibom for the several interventions which he said, had benefited members of the association greatly.

Soliciting for votes from the traders, Ebong warned against supporting unpopular candidates, who have no plan for the market nor the people.

He noted that Pastor Umo Eno is the only governorship candidate in the state with practical blueprint to sustain the gains of the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration.

The BOT maintained that traders who look forward to a continuation of the developmental strides of the present administration would would only achieve such if PDP candidates come out successful in the March 11 elections.

Mr Ebong advised traders to be cautious of some candidates who come with fake promises and unachievable framework; whose only aim is to seize power by any means.

“Pastor Umo Eno has galvanised critical stakeholders and have received popular endorsements from all segments of the society. Your vote for PDP candidates in the March 11 polls would reaffirm your endorsement of Pastor Umo Eno”, he stressed.

Similarly, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade Matters (Uyo Senatorial District); Mr Moses Sambo, also pledged to continue working towards the emergence of Pastor Umo Eno as the governor-elect after the gubernatorial election on Saturday. He noted that PDP alone has fielded candidates capable of sustaining the tempo of economic growth and infrastructural development.

Sambo, who said the forthcoming elections are crucial for traders, urged everyone to show their strength and numbers by going out to vote for Pastor Umo Eno and all other PDP candidates in the state.
