Dr. Raymond Asemakaha
Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha.

July 18, (THEWILL) — The Group Managing Director of Benue State Investment and Property Company (BIPC), Dr Raymond Asemakaha, has decried the high rate of unemployment in Benue State, attributing it to the dearth of industries in the state.

He noted that the yearly production of over 16,000 graduands from institutions of higher learning in Benue State without the corresponding employment opportunities has placed the state on a danger list of crime.

Doctor Asemakaha, who was a special guest at the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ State congress held at its secretariat in Makurdi, however, expressed optimism that following the floating of companies by the Governor Hyacinth Alia administration, such a trend is being addressed for the better.

He disclosed that BIPC, under his leadership, has floated many factories such as Water, nail, bread, and beer within Makurdi metropolis and is about to extend the same to Gboko and Oturkpo, aiming at generating employment for the teeming population.

According to him, capital flight would be checked with the introduction of a motorcycle loan scheme on an ownership basis, while the introduction of a motor vehicle scheme would also ease transportation challenges within the metropolis.

The Group Managing Director further stated that BIPC is about to start a medium Housing scheme at Nyorigyungu along Gboko road, which is within the range of N12 million for people, and stressed the need for parents to train their children in a knowledge-based economy to be self-reliant, rather than the equally good university certificates.

He decried the negative disposition of Benue people towards their political leaders, calling on all to support the Alia administration to realise his dream of taking the state to the next level of development.

Earlier, the State chairman of NUJ, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, acknowledged the purposeful leadership of Dr Asemakaha since the assumption of office.

He pledged the cooperation of Benue Journalists in publicising activities of the Alia administration and BIPC in particular to the outside world for all to be better for it.
