March 31, (THEWILL) — Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved a one-week Easter holiday for all public and civil servants in Benue State, in what the administration says is a gesture to allow workers to observe the Christian festive season.
The directive was contained in an official circular issued on Tuesday and signed by Mr Godwin Tighil, Permanent Secretary, General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the circular, the holiday period will commence on March 31 at 1:00 p.m., while normal official duties are expected to resume on April 8 across all ministries, departments, and agencies in the state.
However, the government stated that workers in essential services are exempted from the directive and are expected to remain on duty throughout the period to ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical public services and swift response to urgent humanitarian and administrative needs.
The Governor Alia extended Easter greetings to civil servants and the entire people of Benue State, wishing them a peaceful and joyous celebration.
He also urged residents to use the Easter period to reflect and offer prayers for lasting peace, stability, and unity in Benue State and across Nigeria, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and sustained peace-building efforts.
