May 22, (THEWILL) — Governor Hyacinth Alia has emerged as the All Progressives Congress governorship flag bearer in the 2027 general election in Benue State after polling the highest number of 367,786 votes at the just-concluded party primaries held on Thursday across the state.
Declaring the results at the APC secretariat in Makurdi on Friday, the chairman of the Governorship and State House of Assembly election committee for Benue State, Prof. Muhammad Kabir Isah, said Mr Terwase Orbunde polled 3,247 votes, with Mr Jeffery Kulauun scoring 2,923 votes to place second and third, respectively.
While commending party members for their peaceful disposition during the exercise, Prof. Isah noted that such conduct led to free and fair results, saying only two petitions have been received for the state House of Assembly and will be addressed as the law permits.
He thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia, the State Working Committee of the party and other critical stakeholders for their support and orderliness.
Reacting to the results, Governor Alia accepted the outcome of the primaries, calling on co-aspirants to join hands with him to address challenges confronting the state.
The governor promised to use the remaining one year of his first tenure to build more roads, schools, hospitals, and employ more teachers to uplift the standard of education in the state.
He commended President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress at all levels, for standing by him, assuring not to disappoint the people of the state.
