March 11, (THEWILL) – No fewer than three Civil Protection Guard Officers were killed by the marauding herdsmen at On-Mba-Aondo, Tsambe-Mbesev ward in Gwer West local Government area in Benue state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, who could not hold himself over the vicious and ferocious attack and murder of officers, stated that the inhuman act, carried out by marauding armed herdsmen, is once more a flagrant affront to the peace and security of our communities.

“We appreciate the deep rage and frustration that has led to the anxiety at Naka, the headquarters of Gwer-West, including the regrettable burning of the Local Government Secretariat and the palace of Ter Nagi by protesters.”

While empathising with the people, the governor advocated restraint and foresight in fuelling the anger, noting that “destruction of our own worth simply serves to frustrate the intentions of the government, which is devoted to building up peace and security in the state.”

Governor Alia, therefore, charged all security organs to intensify their efforts in detecting and capturing the perpetrators of this heinous atrocity, emphasising that it is essential that these marauding herdsmen face the full wrath of the law.

In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, quotes the governor as saying that the security of residents is paramount, as the government will not rest until those culpable for the violence are held liable.

He emphasised that his government is faithfully pursuing to enhance security efforts and protect communities from further attacks.

“We implore all citizens to stand vigilant and collaborate with security agencies in reporting unusual activities. In these trying moments, let us stand together against violence and endeavor for peace and justice in Benue State”, the governor stated.

He expressed the hope that together, the state can conquer these challenges and establish a healthier environment for all.
