April 30, (THEWILL) – Justice Inyang Ekwo has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release Aisha Achimugu, a businesswoman and socialite, within 24 hours.
Justice Ekwo gave the order on Wednesday upon her arraignment by the anti-graft agency at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
THEWILL reports that Achimugu, who arrived voluntarily in the country from London, was arrested by the EFCC on Tuesday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The anti-graft agency, last month, declared her wanted over alleged money laundering and other offences.
Justice Ekwo, on Monday, ordered Achimugu to honour the invitation by the anti-graft agency.
Meanwhile, the Court has directed all parties to report on Friday, May 2, 2025, on compliance with the order directing Achimugu’s release. Ekwo held that she should be freed on the same terms as the administrative bail the anti-graft agency had earlier granted to her.
