June 15, (THEWILL) — Amad Diallo emerged as the Ivory Coast’s match-winner with a dramatic late strike that secured a 1-0 victory over Ecuador and brought an end to the South Americans’ impressive 19-match unbeaten streak in their opening Group E fixture at Lincoln Financial Field.
In a contest filled with missed opportunities, near misses and moments of frustration, the Manchester United winger delivered the decisive breakthrough in the 90th minute, punishing Ecuador for their inability to convert a series of chances throughout the evening.
