March 17, (THEWILL) — The Government of China has announced plans to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, following worsening humanitarian conditions linked to the ongoing regional conflict.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, who disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday, expressed Beijing’s deep concern over the growing crisis affecting civilians across the region.
“The ongoing conflict has inflicted severe humanitarian suffering on people in Iran and other countries in the region. China deeply sympathises with those affected”, Lin said.
He explained that the planned assistance would include essential relief materials such as food supplies, medical aid and other humanitarian support to assist displaced persons and vulnerable communities impacted by the conflict.
Lin further emphasised that China remains committed to supporting efforts geared towards restoring peace and stability in the region. He noted that Beijing would continue to advocate for a ceasefire and encourage diplomatic engagements to prevent further escalation.
According to him, the initiative forms part of China’s broader humanitarian and foreign policy efforts to not only address immediate needs but also contribute to long-term stability across the Middle East.
