December 22, (THEWILL) – Barely weeks after THE WILL exclusively reported that Pastor Bayo Adeyokunnu, a deputy continental overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in the United States and an in-law to the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, joined the race for the Owa Obokun stool in Ijeshaland, Osun State, another prominent RCCG pastor has announced his candidacy.
Pastor (Prince) Alexander Adewale Haastrup, a scion of the Bilaro Royal Ruling House, has declared his intention to vie for the revered throne left vacant by the demise of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran.
Haastrup, 57, is a direct descendant of the late Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijeshaland, Oba Frederick Kumokun Adedeji Haastrup, Ajimoko I. His father, Prince Samuel Adetunji Haastrup, passed away in 2018.
In a statement, Pastor Haastrup expressed his desire to contribute to the growth and development of Ijeshaland.
He emphasized his commitment to fostering unity among Ijesa communities, driving economic development, and launching empowerment initiatives for the people. He also pledged to prioritize cultural preservation, education, human capital development, and modern infrastructure projects to benefit the town.
Currently serving as the Regional Administrator of RCCG and the Pastor in Charge of a Zone in Delta State, Haastrup boasts a wealth of experience in management, administration, and accounting, having worked across Nigeria in these capacities before joining the ministry.
A graduate of Business Administration, Haastrup is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (ACIPM) and a member of other professional organizations.
As the competition for the Owa Obokun stool intensifies, Haastrup’s entry adds another dimension to the race, with notable candidates from royal families and other illustrious backgrounds positioning themselves for the throne.
