January 08, (THEWILL) — The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) recorded a total revenue collection of ₦2.93 trillion in 2025, marking one of the highest annual revenue performances by any customs command in the country.
The strong outturn reflects improved trade volumes at Nigeria’s busiest port, tighter enforcement measures, and enhanced compliance by importers and clearing agents.
Officials attributed the performance to sustained automation of customs processes, improved risk management systems, and closer collaboration with port stakeholders.
According to the command, revenue growth was driven largely by increased imports of petroleum products, machinery, vehicles, and industrial raw materials, alongside more effective duty assessments and anti-leakage measures.
The deployment of digital platforms for cargo clearance also helped reduce delays and plug revenue losses associated with manual processing.
Beyond revenue, the Apapa Command noted progress in trade facilitation, with faster cargo turnaround times and reduced congestion at the port, supporting broader economic activity.
The command reiterated its commitment to balancing revenue generation with efficient trade facilitation in line with the federal government’s economic objectives.
Analysts say the ₦2.93 trillion performance underscores the strategic importance of Apapa Port to Nigeria’s fiscal position, especially amid ongoing efforts to boost non-oil revenue.
