March 30, (THEWILL) – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Obol Sulaiman Offiong, has felicitated with the state’s governor-elect, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, on his victory in the polls.
Obol Sulaiman Offiong made this known in Calabar, while speaking on the outcome of the elections.
He said he believed in the candidacy of Prince Otu and was very willing to surrender his ambition to be governor of the state for the ambition of Prince Otu.
He added that his political support group — The Intimate Alliance and Back to South Movement, was solidly behind the choice of Prince Bassey Otu as the most suitable person to occupy the office of governor of the state.
He added that come May 29, 2023, the incoming governor will bring his wealth of experience in both public and private sectors to bear and will take the outgoing administration’s achievements, particularly in the area of industrialisation to the next level.
On the incoming 10th Senate, Obol Offiong said the current Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, should be strongly considered for the Senate Presidency.
This, he said, will help bring balance to the zoning arrangement in the country.
He added that Senator Orji Kalu, as the Senate President of the 10th Senate will help tremendously in stabilising the Senate.
He said Senator Kalu will effectively mobilise his colleagues to give the requisite support to the President to deliver on his programmes for both the APC and the Nigerian people.
