September 24, (THEWILL) — The Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Governor Ahmed Aliyu as its sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced by the state party chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, after a stakeholders’ meeting in Sokoto.
Achida said the decision was based on what he described as Governor Aliyu’s “sterling performance” in less than two years in office, noting that he had not only delivered on campaign promises but also exceeded expectations in key areas such as water supply, education, infrastructure, civil service welfare, and security.
He praised the governor’s leadership style, highlighting his prudent financial management, people-oriented policies, and bold approach to governance.
The APC chairman also paid tribute to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, describing him as the “pillar of Sokoto politics and the soul of the APC in the state.”
According to him, Wamakko’s mentorship and political structures laid the foundation for the party’s dominance in Sokoto, which Governor Aliyu has further consolidated through performance.
“Our father, Senator Wamakko, is the reason Sokoto remains solidly APC. His grassroots connection, unmatched generosity, and strategic wisdom will always make the difference,” Achida said.
He stressed that the partnership between Wamakko and Governor Aliyu would sustain development and stability in Sokoto beyond 2027.
