PDP Downplays Defection Rumours Around Gov Fubara

Siminalaye-Fubara

September 24, (THEWILL) — The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed speculations that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rumours grew stronger after Fubara was seen with the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, during a visit to President Bola Tinubu.

His September 18 broadcast, marking the end of six months of emergency rule in Rivers, also stirred debates for not recognising the PDP’s role in defending democracy during the political crisis.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Rivers PDP Chairman, Robinson Ewor, said the governor reserves the right to pursue his political interests as long as they align with the needs of Rivers people.

Ewor maintained that Governor Fubara has not communicated any intention to leave the PDP, stressing that any political decision he takes remains a personal one.
