March 27, (THEWILL) — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a political setback in Bayelsa State following the resignation of its former deputy governorship candidate, Mr. Joshua Maciver, who has formally withdrawn his membership from the party.
Maciver conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Oldiama 2, Ward 04, in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, the former deputy governorship candidate stated that his resignation was based on personal reasons, without providing further details on the circumstances surrounding his exit.
“I, Mr Joshua Maciver, a card-carrying member and the immediate past deputy governorship candidate under the platform of the APC in the 2023 governorship election in Bayelsa State, hereby resign and withdraw my membership from the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.
Maciver, who was a key figure in the party’s 2023 governorship campaign in Bayelsa, maintained that his decision to leave the ruling party was final.
He, however, expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity given to him during his time in the party.
“Finally, I am grateful to the party for giving me the platform to be a very active member throughout the period of my membership,” the letter added.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Bayelsa State has not issued an official reaction to Maciver’s resignation.
