August 18, (THEWILL) — The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has lost his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
She passed away on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital at the age of 83.
In a condolence message signed by the Acting Spokesperson of the APC in Plateau State, Shittu Bamaiyi, the party described her death as a painful loss, not only to the Yilwatda family but also to the APC family in Plateau State and across the country.
The statement read in part: “Her death is not only a personal loss to the National Chairman, but also to the entire APC family in Plateau State and the country at large. She died at a time her motherly advice and prayers were most needed.”
Mama Lydia, a devoted Christian and women leader in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), was described as virtuous, humble, and deeply committed to the growth of the church alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda.
Together, they played significant roles in strengthening the church in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau states.
The party added that her enduring legacy lives on through her children and the values she instilled in them.
While commiserating with Professor Yilwatda in his moment of grief, the APC prayed for the repose of Mama Lydia’s soul.
