February 07, (THEWILL) — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has replaced Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the party’s National Convention Central Coordination Committee.
In a fresh reconstitution approved by the party leadership on Friday, February 6, 2026, the APC appointed former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, to lead the committee.
Uzodimma, who was originally named to head the 73-member body just days ago, has now been reassigned to serve as the committee’s Treasurer.
The change was announced in a statement signed by the National Secretary of the APC, Surajudeen Basiru, which cited “zoning exigencies” and further consultations with national stakeholders as the reasons for the adjustment.
The party also expanded the membership of the convention committee from 73 to 90 members. Under the revised structure, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni was retained as the committee’s Secretary.
The National Convention, scheduled to take place between March 25 and March 28, 2026, will culminate in the election of a new National Working Committee (NWC).
Current party chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who assumed office in July 2025 following a consensus deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu, continues to oversee the party’s strategic transition.
Meanwhile, the ruling party has released the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms for the upcoming convention.
The nomination form for the office of National Chairman is pegged at ₦10 million, while forms for Deputy National Chairman and National Secretary are fixed at ₦7.5 million each.
Nomination forms for other national offices are set at ₦5 million, with a flat rate of ₦100,000 for the expression of interest form across all positions.
At the state level, the APC announced that nomination forms for State Chairman will be sold for ₦1 million, while those for State Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary will cost ₦500,000 each.
The party noted that female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities will pay only for the expression of interest form and will be entitled to a 50 percent discount on the prescribed nomination fees.
The APC leadership added that sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course to ensure a seamless convention process.
