May 31, (THEWILL) – Two women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hajiya Lami Awarware, and her assistant, Hajiya Haulatu Aliyu, have been abducted by suspected bandits.
Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), Ishaq Usman Kasai, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday, said the women leaders were kidnapped along with some other unspecified number of persons.
Kasai said the victims were kidnapped along Manini flashpoint of Birnin Gwari local governments, while returning home after attending the inauguration ceremony of the new Governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Monday.
The abductors were yet to make contact with families of the victims, he added.
The Kaduna State Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident.
