February 10, (THEWILL) – The Court of Appeal in Kano has sacked Mohammed Abacha, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the March 11 governorship election in the state.
The appellate court on Friday, set aside the judgment of a High Court that recognised Abacha as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Kano state.
In a judgement delivered by a three-man panel led by Justice Usman Musale, the Court ordered that Sadiq Wali, who was earlier recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), remained the valid governorship candidate of the PDP for Kano State.
The Court held that Abacha had no locus standi to challenge the primary election that produced Wali since he never participated in the poll.
