October 14, (THEWILL) — Lecturers in the Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University, Ammassoma, have joined in the nationwide strike action called by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Checks through some parts of the institution showed total compliance, with lecture halls deserted and few students seen around the campus.
A visit to the Faculty of Law showed that students have stayed away from the lecture theatre due to the ongoing strike.
Attempts to speak with some lecturers failed as they claimed it was against the agreed procedure in the leadership of ASUU. “We have agreed that it is only the National President of ASUU who is mandated to grant press interviews.
“But as you can see, we are fully complying with the call for strike action.”
