SAN FRANCISCO, March 29, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, on Wednesday locked out the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mrs Tina Banku Agbor, top principal office holders when he paid a surprise early morning visit to the Cross River State Secretariat.

Ayade’s convoy arrived the Government House, within which the secretariat is located, at about 7:20 am only for him to find the entire place desolate as most workers were yet to show up in their offices including cleaners.

Piqued by the lateness of some of the key staff of governor’s office at about at 7:33 am, he directed that all entrances be locked and no one was allowed to come in.

According to reports, the state deputy governor, Prof. Ivara Esu, arrived at about 8am and was allowed into the premise.

On his first day in office on June 1, 2015, Ayade had locked out late-coming civil servants, warning that all heads of ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs must live up to their responsibilities.

He at that time harped on the need for civil servants to serve in line with prescribed rules so as to deliver the desired gains to the populace.
