November 04, (THEWILL) — The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has applauded the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for entrenching merit, transparency and professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force’s promotion system.
Speaking at the Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, on Monday, during the decoration of the 24 newly promoted senior officers, the Commissioner described the IGP as a reform-minded leader, whose leadership has restored confidence and fairness in career progression within the Force.
“Promotion in the Nigeria Police is not routine; it is earned through hard work, discipline and dedication. What we are witnessing today reflects the Inspector-General’s commitment to justice, transparency and the reward of excellence”, Azare stated.
He noted that the Egbetokun administration has inspired a more motivated and competent police workforce through enhanced welfare, training and institutional reforms, adding that the development has strengthened efficiency and professionalism across Commands.
“As we see officers being promoted strictly on merit, morale is high and the Force is positioned for greater service delivery”, he said.
Azare charged the newly decorated officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating humility, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
“The higher you rise, the greater the expectations. Let your conduct reflect service to the nation, respect for human rights and commitment to the rule of law”, he stated.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining policing reforms, strengthening community relations and deepening intelligence-driven operations to maintain Akwa Ibom’s position as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
CSP Maximus Sarah Oloto, speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, thanked the IGP and Police Service Commission for a fair and credible promotion process and expressed appreciation to the Command leadership for consistent guidance.
Among the newly promoted officers were CSP Juliana Oriji Okwe, CSP Sylvester Ujo Ikpa, CSP Julius Chimobi Egbiri, CSP Okpo Nkoyo Emmanuel, CSP Victor M. Iyogun, SP Florence Bassey, and SP Peter John.
