
November 12, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has further adjourned the collation of results of the Bayelsa State gubernatorial election until 6pm on Sunday, November 12.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, announced the adjournment after the results in six of the eight LGAs in Bayelsa State were announced on Sunday evening.
THEWILL reports that incumbent Governor Duoye Diri has taken the lead in five of the six local government election results so far declared by the commission.
Diri beats his closest rival, the APC candidate and former Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, in Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas.
The candidate of the APC Sylva has won Nembe Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the collation of election results in Brass and Southern Ijaw Local Governments will resume by 6pm.
