July 31, (THEWILL) – The Senate has appealed to the organisers of the planned #EndBadGovernance Protest scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 2024, to be patient with President Bola Tinubu, saying some of the economic measures put in place in the last one year of his administration need more time to mature.
THEWILL reports that the appeal was part of the resolution taken on Wednesday, at an emergency closed-door session presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The lawmakers highlighted the new national minimum wage of N70,000, student loan and others as measures introduced to address some of the challenges confronting the nation.
Reading the resolution taken at the session, Akpabio said, “The Senate, in closed-door, reviewed the impending protests and urges that one year is not long enough for the policies being implemented by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to yield the desired results.”
On its part as a legislature, the Senate pledged its willingness to “legislate on all matters that will bring succour to Nigerians.”
Seventy-five of the 109 Senators attended the emergency session.
