September 12, (THEWILL) — An aspirant for Tiev State Constituency in the Benue State House in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Boniface Iornumbe, has promised to use his political wealth of experience to attract projects that would impact positively on the constituents if elected.
In an exclusive chat with THEWILL in Makurdi on Friday, Hon. Iornumbe, who served as Deputy Chairman of Vandeikya Local Government Council in the past, stated that empowering people of the constituency comprising six council wards to be self-sufficient is something that would occupy his priority list.
“I floated a scholarship scheme for indigent students in Abuja, where I live, and over sixty-five of them have benefited from it. I intend to extend the same gesture to the six council wards that make up Tiev State Constituency, where three orphans from each Council ward selected will benefit from JSS1 to SSS3”, Iornumbe Promised.
According to him, his quest to represent Tiev State Constituency in the past was frustrated due to political manoeuvring, pointing out that people are now behind the 2027 ambition, which would be realised owing to his political strength.
The assembly hopeful noted that as a former elected Councillor and later as Deputy Chairman of Vandeikya Local Government Council, he will use his wealth of experience and connections to the advantage of all, and called on well-meaning stakeholders to key into the projects for him to realise the dream.
Responding to a question, the Tiev State Constituency assembly hopeful, said he wouldn’t want to build on what other occupants of the seat had done, but to strike a difference that would place his record far above others, working in synergy with the sitting governor to lobby for more projects to the benefit of his constituents.
The former Deputy Chairman held that the projects embarked upon by the governor Alia administration are second to none in the history of Benue State.
“I can give a pass mark to Governor Alia in the area of infrastructural development, as some of his legacy projects can only be seen in the nation’s capital, Abuja. The underpasses, road network, electricity, prompt payment of salaries and arrears have endeared Benue people to this administration”, Iornumbe stated.
On other Jerchira sons eying the 2027 governorship seat, Iornumbe, who is a political Scientist, argued that no matter how well Governor Alia is performing, surely some political animals would join the race either to have political gains from their sponsors or to be seen to be noticed.
He, therefore, called on Benue people to keep faith with the Alia administration, noting that distraction from certain political quarters would only derail the quantum of projects that would have been done if all hands were on deck.
