September 29, (THEWILL) – Benue State House of Assembly has conferred an outstanding performance award on the Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Justin Gberindyer of the Benue State Police Command, for excelling in crime fighting in the state.
Equally awarded were twin sisters, Blessing and Mary Nev, for outstanding in cultural performances.
Performing the ceremony at plenary in Makurdi, the Speaker, Mr Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, explained that the honour was more than gold, silver and money which is coming from the 10th Benue State House of assembly.
The House urged the awardees to continue to make the state proud, especially CSP Gberindyer, who ensued the rescuing of tourists in the state from the hands of kidnappers, and charged him to ensure the release of the kidnapped Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Matthew Abo, currently in kidnappers hands.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Logo State Constituency, Mr Samuel Jiji, that of Ogbadibo, Samuel Agada, Makurdi south, Douglas Akya, all expressed appreciation to the House for the gesture, saying it will spur the awardees to do more for the good of Benue state.
The Chief Majority Whip and member representing Katsina-Ala West, Hon. Peter Bemdoo Ipusu, described CSP Gberindyer as a team player, who excels in the course of crime fighting through Operations ZENDA security outfit.
He urged Gberindyer to stay close on retirement so that his wealth of experience will be tapped, calling on him to act fast to reduce the rising cases of criminality in the Sankera geopolitical axis of the state.
Matthew Damkor of Tiev Constituency while congratulating the awardees, described CSP Gberindyer as a star and urged him to prepare a successor to ZENDA Task Force that will fit in as he proceeds on retirement within the year.
On their part, the Deputy Majority Whip, Alfred Emberga and Deputy Minority Whip, Pastor Blessed Onah, all called on the State Government to engage CSP Gberindyer after retirement, while the Nigeria Police Force should make Gberindyer an ambassador of the force for his show of commitment and professionalism to duty.
The Manager of the twins sisters, Mr Tahav Agerzua while presenting the awardees, described them as cultural ambassadors and creative future leaders, even as the Speaker, announced his personal scholarship award to them to study though out their University education.
The Speaker also recommended the two girls to Benue State Government to offer them employment into the State Civil Service from Grade Level five and above.
Responding on behalf of others, CSP Gberindyer, thanked the House of assemby for acknowledging their efforts in various sector of human endeavours.
He commended the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode and the Commissioner of Police Benue State command, CP Batholomew Onyeka for giving him the opportunity to be recepient of the award.
“It is an act of dedication and commitment and this award cannot be quantify in terms of Naira and Kobo. I commend men of the Joint Task Force Operation ZENDA who have always work as a team in the course of securing Benue state communities from the hands of criminals.”
He urged the assembly to enact laws that will pave the way for security agencies will be fully mobilise to carry out the statutory duty of protecting lives and property of the citizenry and promised to do more to humanity all the times any given opportunity.
