September 29, (THEWILL) – The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, on Friday, sacked Hon Moses Sule, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Sule was sacked alongside Danjuma Azi, the member representing Jos North West constituency in the Assembly.
The tribunal, declared the former Majority Leader of the House, Naanlong Daniel and Mark Na’ah, all of the APC, as winners of March 18 House of Assembly election held in the respective Constituencies.
The petitioners had challenged the sponsorship of the Sule and Azi on the grounds that the PDP was not qualified to participate in the election for lack of party structure.
Delivering judgement on Friday, the tribunal, led by Muhammad Tukur, held that the PDP was not qualified to sponsor the respondents for the election.
According to the Tribunal, the PDP had no structure in Plateau State as at the time of their nomination
“Nothing can stand on nothing”, the tribunal declared.
Consequently, Justice Tukur ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to withdraw the certificates of return earlier issued to Sule and Azi and give it to the candidates of the APC, Naanlong Daniel and Mark Na’ah, who polled second-highest number of votes cast during the election
