May 09, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Henry Dele Alake, has described the ongoing Economic Summit organised by the Benue State Government as capable of transforming the mineral and economic sectors of the state and country at large.
In a message delivered by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry at the occasion, the Minister noted the timeliness and assemblage of relevant stakeholders for the summit, saying their suggestions and contributions would go a long way in charting a new direction for the state and country.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to assist in the development of mineral deposits in Benue so as to improve on internally generated revenue.
On his part, the Director General, Space Development Research Agency, Dr Matthew Adepoju, said Nigeria was on the right track for venturing into the space activities because the sector is capable of transforming the economy of the country.
The Director General, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Space Development, Dr Idris Jega, therefore, assured of the Agency’s support towards achieving the economic turn-around of the state.
In a remark, the representative of Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, stated the resolve towards partnership with Benue State Government in the area of cassava production and processing, and commended governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration for organising the summit to harness ideas.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the governor on International Investment, Mr Alex Addingi, said the summit was organised to provide the opportunity for the Government and people of Benue State to show the abundant investment potentials to the outside world.
According to Mr Addingi, the summit was not just opening doors, but unveils new Benue that is investment-ready in line with the 7 points agenda of governor Hyacinth Alia, who has prioritised security, infrastructure, digital Governance, agriculture, economic transformation, among others.
