Benue Monarch Warns Residents Of Complicity, Decries High Trafficking Rates In Community

HRH Chief Achiaku

April 29, (THEWILL) — The paramount ruler of Vandeikya, Ter Kunav, His Royal Highness, Chief Nyinongu Achiaku, has warned his subjects to desist from the act of human trafficking in the land.

Chief Achiaku, who sounded the warning while delivering a funeral oration in respect of late Mrs Esther Anyakpa Humble at Mbawuar, Mbadede in Vandeikya Local Government area of Benue State, decried the alleged involvement of his residents in cases of human trafficking of the younger ones to the southern part of the country.

“It is not only the highest form of criminality, but was negatively affecting the land and portraying it in a bad light before the outside world”, Chief Achiaku stated.

The paramount ruler identified Mbayongu, Mbajov, and Mbakyaha districts as leading in perpetuating this issue and emphasised that the trend must stop immediately.

He, therefore, counselled parents and guardians to do more in the training of their wards, advising others to emulate the late Mama Esther, who trained her children well and contributed to the development of the society in diverse ways.

The Ter Kunav also cautioned his subjects against speaking the English language in public functions in his domain, to the detriment of the mother tongue.

The Pastor of First Baptist Church Makurdi, Rev Jonathan Ugbede, described the deceased as a devout Christian who lived a righteous life that impacted many souls.

Pastor Ugbede also encouraged his surviving children and immediate family members to emulate their mother by living Christ-like lives to reap the blessings of God.

The older son of the deceased, Mr Tertsegha Anyakpa Humble, noted that the death of their mother had left a vacuum that will not be healed and thanked all those who stood by the family during the trying moment, praying to God to bless attendees at the burial.
