August 16, (THEWILL) — Benue State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have facilitated Comrade Nancy Orshi in her appointment as national Trustee of the union.
In their separate statements in Makurdi on Friday, the state chairman, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, expressed appreciation to the National President, Comrade Alhasan Yahya, and the entire NEC members for finding one of their own from Benue Council, Comrade Nancy Orshi, worthy of the appointment.
According to Ugber, such a gesture is not only a recognition of Orshi’s unwavering dedication and professionalism but also a great honour to the entire Benue media landscape.
“Your confidence in her ability to contribute meaningfully at the national level is deeply encouraging, and we are proud that her commitment to journalistic excellence has earned her this significant role”, the statement added.
He, therefore, commended the national president for upholding inclusivity and for strengthening the unity of the Union through such thoughtful representation.
Similarly, the Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Comrade Nancy Orshi on her appointment as a member of the Board of Trustees.
NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Elizabeth Achagh, in a statement, described Orshi’s appointment as well-deserved and a recognition of her dedication, hard work and immense contribution to the journalism profession and NUJ as a body.
According to the statement, the appointment is also a testament to the president’s vision for a more inclusive and collaborative Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The Chairperson expressed confidence in Comrade Orshi’s ability to contribute to greater growth of the union, especially in the North Central, and urged the appointee to work closely with the NUJ President to bring positive change, improve the welfare of Journalists and promote professionalism.
