May 13, (THEWILL) — The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, stakeholders, on Wednesday, inaugurated the Screening Committee for the 2027 State and National Assembly for candidates ahead of the party primaries.
Performing the ceremony in Makurdi on Wednesday, the State chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji commended the members of the committee, describing them as seasoned and experienced individuals capable of carrying out the assignment with fairness, transparency, and diligence.
He charged them to carry out the assignment with utmost integrity and ensure that candidates meet the required qualifications and fulfil all necessary conditions stipulated by the party.
The chairman further emphasised the importance of credibility and due process in strengthening internal democracy within the party and maintaining the confidence of party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding, the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Dr Azer Abya, expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership for the confidence reposed in them, assuring the party of the committee’s readiness to carry out its duties professionally and to deliver a thorough and credible screening process in the best interest of the party.
Doctor Abya, who was the former chairman of Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, pledged the commitment of the committee members in ensuring a perfect job that would further unite and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration ceremony, which was held at the party secretariat in Makurdi, was attended by the PDP State Working Committee and members of the newly constituted committee.
