March 08, (THEWILL) – The management of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi has visited the families of the three female students who were recently kidnapped and later released, to commiserate with them over the traumatic experience.

In a statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Dr. John U. David, and made available to PUNCH in Makurdi on Saturday, the institution assured students and stakeholders that a decision on the resumption date would be communicated after a thorough review of the security situation on campus and its environs.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N.I. Itodo, who led the delegation, urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to remain patient as the university takes necessary steps to ensure safety before reopening.

The statement expressed appreciation to God, the Department of State Services, the police, Operation Whirl Stroke, the Adviser on Homeland Security, staff, students, and other concerned individuals for their efforts during the incident.

The three female students were abducted on February 25, 2025, and regained their freedom on March 5, 2025.
