December 04, (THEWILL) — The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was showered with praise and appreciation by women, people with disabilities, and members of the business community in Benue State following her ₦50 million donation used for their empowerment.
At its launch in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, 250 Persons With Disabilities beneficiaries received ₦200,000 as business grants and ₦50 million to support women’s livelihoods.
Represented at the ceremony by Mrs Scholastica Ben-sor, the First Lady said the programme aligns with President Tinubu’s inclusive agenda and will now be held annually.
“The initiative is part of a nationwide ₦1.9 billion Renewed Hope programme targeting 9,500 beneficiaries across all states, the FCT, and DPOWA”, she explained.
Governor Hyacinth Alia was also praised for advancing disability rights, while traditional leaders and beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the transparent and impactful intervention in the state.
Kasedoon Abua, who received the sum of ₦250,000, expressed joy for the gesture, saying it will go a long way in boosting her fish farming, while Grace Ogwuche thanked God for touching the wife of the president to transform the lives of the downtrodden in the society.
A disabled shoemaker, Usman Hassan, noted that such funds will help him to acquire more materials for his business, saying he will raise money to train family members in school.
He commended President Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia for the initiatives and call for sustenance.
