May 7, (THEWILL)- The Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, Dr Asemakaha, has said that the water and bakery companies sited within the same premises at Tse Ayu, Along George Akume Way, Makurdi, would cost the sum of N220 million on completion.
The Managing Director, who disclosed after a facility tour of the projects on Tuesday, noted that the companies would be completed and put up for inauguration by Governor Hyacinth Alia on May 27, as part of activities to mark his one year in office.
“The water factory for a start would be producing 300 water bottles within an hour and 9000 per day and would increase as the demands increase.”
According to him, arrangements are in top gear by BIPC to launch its beer brand in December this year, saying the company was out to give Benue and Nigerians high premium quality beer.
“BIPC is not in competition with any brewery company, therefore, would do its thing for the people to enjoy a beer with a difference. Numerous studies have shown that producers of beer alcoholic beverages make between N800m to N870m monthly in Benue State.”
He explained that the decision of BIPC was to ensure that such funds are no longer taken out of the state but rather retained to boost the state’s economy, saying it will cost the sum of N800 million for the project.
Doctor Asemakaha further explained that shares would be open for Benue indigenes to subscribe, as the shares would be reserved for the 23 Local Government Council Areas of the State to subscribe one percent each.
“From the start, the company would be producing 180,000 bottles per day because fermentation alone takes 15 days, noting that the company has planned adequately for the raw materials needed for the production of its beer.
In her remarks, Head, Business Development and Strategy, Mrs Theresa Abeda, said all they do is to identify, develop and recommend business ideas of interest to management to be able to grow the revenue.
While commending the Managing Director, Dr Asemakaha for carrying them along in the course of duty, Mrs Abeda noted that the Department has capable hands to always deliver on their given mandate.
The Head, Infrastructure at BIPC, Architect Jerry I, assured of strict monitoring and evaluation of projects embarked upon so as to ensure compliance with the standard code of building.
