March 21, (THEWILL) – The presiding Bishop of the Christian Central Chapel International, Emmah Gospel Isong, has set a three point agenda for the incoming Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu.
Bishop Isong, who is also the national publicity secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, says Prince Otu should continue to execute his people’s first manifesto, “Let his activities/projects have human face, and extend his hand to the opposition because where politics end, government starts.”
Bishop Isong made this known in Calabar, while formally reacting to the outcome of the gubernatorial elections in the state.
He said he is very optimistic that Senator Otu will succeed as a governor based on his track record in public service.
The PFN scribe said, “Nobody is afraid that you (Senator Bassey Otu) will succeed, I can tell you that even the opposition know that Otu will succeed because he has a track record, where in his previous political activities he had used it very well for the masses.
“What we need now is not really the white elephant projects, we need to empower our people, the poverty level especially in Calabar South and the extreme north is very alarming.
“Prince Otu, in as much as we congratulate him for coming on board, I will not jealous him at all because the responsibility waiting for him is so serious.
“I will encourage him to continue to execute that people’s first manifesto, let his activities and projects have human face, and let him also extend his hand to the opposition because where politics end, government starts.
“Politics ended on the 18th of March and therefore from 29th of May government starts.
“You are not going to tar a road and say it’s for only those who voted for me so Prince Otu has lost the ownership tendency of the APC and is going to be a son of Obudu, Obanliku, Bakassi, the eighteen LGAs including the non-indigenes are now looking up to him to carry them along”, Bishop Isong said.
On the 2023 general elections, Bishop Isong said, “The general elections is like passing a human being through a medical scanning machine.
“No matter how healthy he is supposed to be, the doctor will discover a lot of medical discrepancies.
“So on this, I judge the last presidential and gubernatorial elections as being 78% free and fair”, he said.
He added that elections is not a do or die affair and winners should always extend a hand of fellowship to the losers.
