SAN FRANCISCO, September 01, (THEWILL) – Pakistani investors have indicated interest to explore the huge potential in Borno State as normalcy is gradually returning to the state.
Already, one of the investors has expressed willingness to invest a whopping €1 million in the state.
Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dauda Danladi, who led a group of Pakistani investors to the state, disclosed this during the visit, saying the decision was in the spirit of support for the efforts being made to return peace to the troubled state.
He said other investors from the Asian country are also willing to invest in Borno as they have come to discover that peace has started returning to the state.
While commending the governor of the state, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, for his giant stride towards the restoration of peace in the state and the execution of people-oriented projects among others, Danladi said he believed that with the zeal and commitment of the governor, the partnership with the Pakistani investors will go a long way in enhancing the transformation of Borno State.
In his response, Shettima expressed the desire of his administration to partner with the Pakistani investors as he listed the area of interest to include agricultural equipment, pharmaceuticals, sports and Gum Arabic, among others.
The Borno governor disclosed that some agricultural equipment are on the way the state which will effectively improve the sector. He maintained that gone were the days of traditional farming method as he promised that mechanised farming will be given the needed priority.
Shettima disclosed that sprinkler machines for irrigation programme were already being used in some parts of the state and that the government was also making effort to revive the educational system especially in the science related subjects.
He added that the state government was also willing to partner with the Pakistani investors in the area of education, particularly science teachers and training of medical doctors among others.
The governor said efforts were being made by government to create job opportunities to ameliorate and control violence among the youths in the state.
He stressed that the current religious problem in the state was caused by joblessness, redundancy and poverty as he promised that no effort will be spared in addressing the issue of unemployment,especially among the youths..
