SAN FRANCISCO, September 05, (THEWILL) – Twenty persons were again killed in two separate attacks in Borno State as the Boko Haram insurgents continued their killing spree in some villages in the state over the past two days.
On Wednesday morning, the terrorists who attacked the police station and the council secretariat at Gajiram in Nganzi Local Government area as well as the market sent 15 persons to their early graves.
The insurgents also attacked Bulabilin Ngaura village in Konduga Local Government Area a day later.
In Gajiram, Boko Haram members were said to have arrived the town at about 10am and attacked the police station and the council secretariat before killing 15 persons at the local market while injuring many others.
Residents of the town told journalists in Maiduguri Thursday afternoon that the insurgents stormed the town around 10am and held it hostage till about 2pm on Wednesday.
They were also said to have beaten up several residents of the town before embarking on the killing spree.
Fleeing residents said some of the villagers who ran into the bush were yet to return to their homes.
A resident of the area, Babagoni Bahir, said “five persons were killed when insurgents attacked the town around 10am yesterday(Wednesday) morning.’’
Though details of the attack remained sketchy when filing this report, five persons were said to have been killed in the attack.
The Borno State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan, was later sent to Gajiram to commiserate with residents over the attack by the governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, who was away in Abuja.
However, the JTF spokesman, Lt. Col Sagir Musa, who was contacted on the incident Thursday afternoon, could not confirm the incident.
